UEC Junior English Paper 2 - Writing Composition 9

UEC Junior English Paper 2 - Writing Composition 9

Write a composition of between 150 - 200 words based on the topic below.

Do you think physical education (P.E.) should be compulsory for students in schools?

Yes, I believe physical education (P.E.) should be compulsory for students in schools. Firstly, P.E. promotes physical health, which is crucial in today’s world where many young people lead increasingly sedentary lifestyles. Regular exercise in P.E. classes helps students build strong muscles, improve cardiovascular health, and maintain a healthy weight. By making P.E. compulsory, schools ensure that students get regular exercise, which can prevent health issues later in life.

Secondly, P.E. supports mental health. Physical activity has been proven to release endorphins, which reduce stress and improve mood. Students often experience academic stress, and P.E. provides them with an outlet to release tension and refresh their minds. Engaging in sports can also boost self-confidence, as students set and achieve physical goals.

Additionally, P.E. teaches important life skills. In team sports, students learn teamwork, cooperation, and communication. These skills are valuable not only in sports but also in real-life situations, such as in the workplace. Physical education encourages discipline, as students need to train regularly and put in effort to improve.

In conclusion, making P.E. compulsory can improve students’ physical and mental well-being, teach essential life skills, and build healthy habits that last a lifetime. For these reasons, P.E. should be a required part of every student’s education.
